If you haven’t had the opportunity to attend college—or you’ve been, but not finished your degree—the employment situation can seem pretty hopeless. It feels like attending a university is the gateway to professional success. So if you’re not a college grad, what can you do to find work?
One of my favorite questions to ask at networking events in Indianapolis is “Where are you volunteering?” Unlike “What do you do” which doesn’t always go that well, “Where are you volunteering” gives people a chance to talk about their passions. But there’s only one downside. Sometimes, people aren’t volunteering anywhere.
Some people like to say we’re reasonably competent at just about everything. And it’s true, we’ve have done a little of everything. We are a “jack of all trades” as the expression goes.
