Exploring Who You Are
Sometimes, it might seem like work is just a place you go to make money so you can support your family and live the rest of your life outside of work. But we know that for many people, their career is an extension of their personality. That’s why kids are constantly asking “what do you want to be when you grow up?”
In fact, this may be the best question to pose to yourself as you are beginning the process of developing your career. Ask yourself what you are doing at work, and what want to be doing. Do you prefer working with people or solving problems on your own? Do you like thinking strategically or focusing on small details? Do you like being around others who are in your field, or do you want to be the only expert in the room?
These sorts of questions are a great way to begin the process of self-exploration. Work to understand who you are so that you can grow your career, whether you are here in the Indianapolis area or moving elsewhere in the world.
